The Macclesfield-based company, Burgtec, have released the new MK3 stem.

 

Enduro has evolved ever closer to Downhill. The Enduro MK3 Stem is all you need for hitting the trails with wing suit type accuracy. This Stem was born out of rider’s demands for precision and for those moments when you have to be inch-perfect.

 

The Burgtec Enduro MK3 35mm Stem was born out of rider’s demands for precision and for those moments when you have to be inch-perfect. Taking design elements from Burgtec’s World Cup-winning Direct Mount MK3 Stem and splicing these with the critically acclaimed Enduro MK2 Stem.

 

Burgtec developed the Stem specifically with Pro’s and Bro’s alike. It was obvious we all live for the same challenge of pushing our own limits. As riders, we want a Stem that inspires confidence to change lines through the middle of a rock garden like it’s no big deal or slap the inside of a turn and translate all your weight to front-wheel traction. Providing ear to ear grins and saying to your mates at the bottom of a trail, “Did you see that?”.

 

From the start of the design process, it became clear that Burgtec wanted extra rigidity. To yield this, they would need to make the Stem using a forging process – a new thing for us. The result of which allowed them to achieve a more intricate shape than machining alone. It involves applying a huge amount of force to redirect the grain flow of the material. As a result, this gives superior strength, fatigue and impact resistance.

 

Another area where Burgtec made a significant improvement in rigidity was by increasing the clamping surface area on the steerer tube. They’ve vastly increased this to give a stout, rock-solid feel and as close to the MK3 Direct Mount Stem as they could. Furthermore, everything is held securely by stainless steel bolts to ensure there is no rust even in the grimmest weather. In addition and like every Burgtec product, it’s fully CNC machined and anodized in all your favourite flavours.

 

Tested with the world’s fastest jibbers and sendiest racers, this stem has everything you need to hit all those rowdy racing lines or pull that little bit harder off that big sender.

New Nukeproof Wheels

Nukeproof have released the new version of the Horizon and Neutron wheelsets. Improvements have been made across performance, durability and serviceability of both Horizon and Neutron wheel families.

 

Both the Horizon and the Neutron wheelsets come taped with tubeless valve installed so all you need to do is add sealant and your tyre to get a finished tubeless setup. The valve supplied is Nukeproof’s Horizon valve which also has a core remover built into the cap. This valve is also compatible with tyre inserts like Nukeproof ARD.

 

Nukeproof Horizon V2:

 

The Nukeproof Horizon wheels feature a revised design, which gives you fast and smooth-rolling performance as you shred the trails. Coming equipped with Nukeproof’s extensively trailed and tested alloy blend, its rim construction is specifically made to meet the demands of both enduro and DH riders. Producing a hardness similar to 7-series alloy but with the ductility and yield properties of a 6-series, this front wheel gives you the best of both worlds in terms of strength, stiffness and weight.

 

Enduro ABEC 5 Bearings:
After extensive testing with various brands of bearings, Nukeproof chose to use Enduro ABEC 5 bearings in this front wheel. These bearings have the “LLU/LLB” seal type, which uses two lips that make light contact in a groove to create a labyrinth where the water or dirt has a more difficult time to penetrate. LLU seals are similar, only the contact pressure or interference fit is greater to seal better. Enduro bearings have 80% grease fill on both sides whereas most other bearings have 35% grease fill on one side. This delivers full coverage, so there are no dry areas as well as avoiding metal on metal contact or wear. This means that the axle feels tight out of the box and after a couple of rides it will become free.

This MTB front wheel features a revised Nukeproof Horizon V2 hub, which is available for both 15mm & 20mm spacings in both boost & non boost. We also sell end caps for QR separately.

Nukeproof Neutron V2:

 

This MTB rear wheel has been completely redesigned from the ground up and gives riders incredibly fast and smooth rolling performance on every ride. It features 36 points of engagement and comes in a range of freehub options. Nukeproof has also made freehubs available separately and easy to change if you choose to upgrade your drivetrain in the future.

 

The 142mm hub can be converted to 135mm QR and the 148mm hub can be converted to 141mm using end caps. The hub has been machined to remove excess material and make it as strong and light as possible. Nukeproof have increased the thickness of pawl springs in these hubs to give secure engagement on every pedal stroke.

 

The 6066 alloy rim has been extensively to ensure it is a rim which is light enough for aggressive trail riding but strong enough for DH.

 

Nukeproof have used J-Bend spokes meaning tensioning and spoke replacement is much simpler than using a straight pull spoke.
